Our Community

Solent Butchers are conscious of supporting the local and surrounding communities, both in terms of minimising our impact on the environment and as a supporter of local businesses causes and employment. Our Environmental Management System has been certified by South East Business Carbon Hub and we currently support the League of Friends, Portsmouth Hospital’s Rocky Appeal, Rowans Hospice and are a registered ‘Business supporting older people fund (BSOP) in Hampshire’.

The company works with the local employment agency to offer placements under Work Experience Scheme as well as being a keen supporter of Apprenticeships giving young people the opportunity to start and progress their careers developing their skills, knowledge and confidence.

Solent Butchers has been supporting Apprenticeships with Portsmouth based HTP Training since March 2010.

Mark and his team have always been keen to give young people the opportunity to start and progress their careers. They’ve been very supportive of their apprentices in helping them develop their skills, knowledge and confidence. Most recently Barney Gillies (18) from Gosport has joined the team and has already made a positive impact within the business. Barney is working within the Sales team and is undertaking his Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Sales.

I have had the pleasure of working with Solent Butchers now for some time and have been very impressed with how they have supported the Jobcentre’s Work Experience scheme and given local individuals valuable skills to get them back in to the labour market.
